Victorville throws support behind Route 66's 'historic trail' designation

The City Council unanimously threw its support this week behind designating Route 66 as a National Historic Trail, which could offer new sources of funding for preservation and promotion of the 2,400-mile stretch of road. The U.S. Senate is currently considering the bill introduced by Republican Illinois Rep. Darin LaHood that would amend the National Trails System Act and make the designation official.
