Dan's Drive-In placed on Columbus Register of Historic Places

Dan's Drive-In on the South Side has been a neighborhood staple for six decades, with its distinctive red-and-black checkerboard exterior, along with its red vinyl seats and stools, Route 66 paintings and Elvis Presley and Marilyn Monroe memorabilia inside. In the 1950s and '60s, when South Side industries employed thousands and teenagers cruised nearby streets, Dan's attracted families and young people, who placed their orders with carhops who raced inside and back out with trays of burgers, fries and shakes.
