Lumsden cafe combines Stateside diner appeal with postal service

The phrase "neat brown parcels with fascinating ingredients" takes on dual meaning at northern Southland eatery Route 6, where you never quite know what's on the menu. Stepping into the cute wee 1950s building from Lumsden's laid back main street, on popular tourist route State Highway 6, you could be forgiven for experiencing an Alice in Wonderland moment as you're confronted with a picture perfect US diner interior - complete with a repurposed 1955 Dodge Kingsway in pride of place.
